Dinner with Michelle Obama

Students received words of encouragement from the First Lady and celebrity friends.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, First Lady Michelle Obama hosted 25 esteemed young ladies in the East Wing of the White House for her “Remarkable Women Dinner.”

The dinner was the culmination of an inspiring day that hundreds of young teens will more than likely never forget.  Earlier that afternoon, actress Rashida Jones and Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes visited H.D. Woodson High School in Washington, DC to speak with 20 female students about the importance of mentorship, as actresses Kerry Washington and Tracee Ellis Ross conversed with students at Spring Brook High School in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Mrs. Obama later addressed the group by saying, "All of you should know that these wonderful ladies are just as excited and maybe even more excited to be here with all of you tonight, as great as they are. We all take so much pride and excitement from being able to share our stories and talk to you and look you in the face and ask you questions and give you advice."

Other celebrity participants included Alfre Woodard, Geena Davis and Alvin Ailey dance legend, Judith Jamison.
