WATCH: Lizzo Performs A Classic Stevie Wonder Christmas Song On SNL
On the final Saturday Night Live episode of 2022, Lizzo performed a surprise cover of Stevie Wonder’s classic Christmas song, “Someday At Christmas.”
The multifaceted artist took the role of being the musical guest on Saturday (Dec. 17) for SNL. She performed twice: “Break Up Twice” and “Someday At Christmas (Stevie Wonder cover).” She also appeared in a Please Don’t Destroy sketch about plastic clothing.
In Lizzo fashion, everything from the makeup and dress to the stage design, synched together for a special performance. With the Christmas-themed lighting setting the tone, the 34-year-old musician was backed by a band.

Stevie Wonder originally released the song in 1967 on his Christmas LP. Since its release over six decades ago, the song has been covered by many: Diana Ross, Jackson 5, The Temptations, Mary J. Blige, among others.
Lizzo released her rendition of the song as an Amazon Music Original, Rolling Stone reports.
“I chose to cover ‘Someday at Christmas’ not just because it’s a classic, but because it’s a reminder to us that almost 60 years later, we are still fighting for peace, compassion, and equality,” Lizzo said in a statement at the time. “A friendly reminder to spread love and kindness this holiday season.”
