Is Mercedes Graduating From "Glee" Too?
Last week, Glee’s show creator rocked fans with the news that not all of the original cast members will return next season because they are seniors and will be graduating. The exodus includes Lea Michele’s pain-in-the-neck Rachel Berry, Cory Monteith’s good-boy Finn Hudson and Chris Colfer’s fabulously fashionable Kurt Hummel.
Most recently, Amber Riley, who plays big-voice and bigger personality Mercedes Jones says she may be leaving as well. When asked if she will be return for the fourth season, Riley tells E! News, "Who knows? Whatever happens this third season is what happens, and I think everybody's OK with it.”
The show that blew nameless singers into stardom and had celebrities clamoring for cameos, is intent on shaking up the cast and keeping the idea of high school as true to form as possible. This means folks must graduate, even if Gleeks disagree.
So how did Riley find out she may get the boot too? "I found out about it like everybody else did, on the Internet." This doesn’t seem to be a big deal to the singing actress who is also working on anti-bullying initiatives and a Secret deodorant “Mean Stinks” campaign.
The 25-year-old will probably not have to worry about finding work as fans will surely be checking for the life of Ms. Riley. If the actress does go, hopefully the show will remember to keep the cast as diverse as it's been.
