Kanye West Reportedly Locked Out Of Twitter Account
On Saturday, Instagram deleted posts and restricted the account of Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, for violating the social media platform’s policies. Now, his Twitter account is in a similar predicament.
According to CBS News, the rapper and fashion entrepreneur was locked out “due to a violation of Twitter policies.” Twitter didn’t specify which policies had been violated, but the lock out came shortly after Ye tweeted Saturday that he would go “death con 3” on Jewish people, which many interpreted as antisemitic.
In the since-deleted tweet, Ye wrote, “the funny thing is I can’t actually be Anti Semetic because Black people are actually Jewish also.”
His Instagram account remains active despite the restrictions. A spokesperson for Instagram’s parent company Meta said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter that restrictions occur when users repeatedly violate company platform policies. Restricted users can be temporarily prevented from writing comments, sharing posts or direct messaging.
It wasn’t specified which content posted by Ye was deleted or even how long the restriction would last, but he decided to take his social media thoughts to Twitter.
On Friday, Ye ended a long hiatus on Twitter by criticizing Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg: “how you gone kick me off instagram.” Elon Musk, who is in the process of purchasing Twitter, responded to Ye: “Welcome back to Twitter, my friend!”
Earlier that day, Ye posted screenshots of his text message conversations with Diddy, in which he suggested that Diddy is being controlled by Jews. The American Jewish Committee pointed out the conversation as antisemitic.
Diddy’s initial criticism was in regard to the “White Lives Matter” T-shirt Ye debuted during his Yeezy Season 9 show in Paris earlier this week. However, Diddy was not the only celebrity to speak out on the shirt: Jaden Smith tweeted, “I don’t care who it is, if I don’t feel the message I’m out.”
This is not the first time the mogul has been under social media fire. His account was suspended for 24 hours after posting a slur directed toward The Daily Show host, Trevor Noah.
In February, West apologized for posting conversations between himself and his then-estranged wife, Kim Kardashian, about her then-boyfriend, Pete Davidson.
