Big Boi's Wife Files for Divorce
Sherlita Patton, estranged wife of Outkast member Big Boi, filed for divorce in Georgia's Fulton County Court Wednesday (Oct. 3) on grounds that the marriage is "irretrievably broken," the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports. Patton and the Atlanta rapper, born Antwan Andre Patton, were wed in 2002 and are now gearing up for a custody battle.
The couple have two children, ages 18 and 12. The Mrs. is seeking sole physical custody of the minor, spousal and child support, as well as an equitable division of material assets and lawyer fees. Court documents show that she hired John Mayoue, the divorce attorney who helped Usher win full custody of his two sons, Naviyd and Usher Raymond V.
Daddy Fat Sax displayed possible cracks in the relationship via "She Hates Me," off his Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors release. With Kid Cudi on the chorus, Big spits on the troubles a better half wrestles with, rapping, "She say she love me when I'm gone, she miss me being home/I'm always at the studio, that makes her feel alone/Recently she even seems to hate on all my songs/Deleted my pictures took my face up out her phone/Where did we go wrong?"
Speaking to Hip Hop DX last December, the 38-year-old denied marriage trouble. "I aint got s--t to hide," he said. "I'm human like everybody else. And s--t, my marriage and everything is great."
He has yet to comment on the split.
