President Barack Obama and Jimmy Fallon Sing the News

The president and the host sang about rates on federal Stafford loans.

During a visit to Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Tuesday night, President Barack Obama gave the audience a little musical surprise. He, Fallon, and the show's house band, the Roots, performed an installment of the show's segment "Slow-Jamming the News." The show was taped at the University of North Carolina and the number's theme was President Obama's request that Congress keep rates on federal Stafford student loans from doubling before legislation expires on July 1.
"What we’ve said is simple: now is not the time to make school more expensive for our young people," Obama said.
"Awww yeah, you should listen to the president, or as I like to call him, 'the preezy of the United Steezy,'" answered Fallon in a Barry White voice. Even the Roots' Tariq Trotter joined in on the fun with lines like "The GOP is steady sayin' 'no, no, no,' they should find something new to do like Tim Tebow. If Congress doesn't act, it's the students who pay. The right and left should turn on this like Kim and Kanye."
