Grace Jones’s long-awaited memoir, I’ll Never Write My Memoirs, is set to arrive later this year.
The singer, actress and fashion model recently signed a book deal with Gallery Books and the memoir is publishing on Sept. 29.
During an early announcement of the book, she explained the concept of the title: “I wrote a song called 'Art Groupie.' First line said 'I'll never write my memoirs' — that was a long time ago. Since then, I thought, if I don't do it, somebody else will."
According to Gallery Books, the 65-year-old will share stories from her time spent at Studio 54, living with Jerry Hall during her days as a model and collaborating with Andy Warhol. You also can’t forget that she was co-star to Roger Moore in A View to a Kill and Arnold Schwarzenegger in Conan the Destroyer, so there’ll be some fascinating stories about that as well.
Jones was born in Jamaica and came to the U.S. as a teenager to pursue her career as a model at 17. She modeled for Yves Saint-Laurent in Paris. After a while, she returned to New York to release three disco albums, which were recently re-issued as a box set, titled Grace Jones: The Disco Years, in May.
