Raven-Symoné Shares Heartbreaking News of Brother's Passing

The 31-year-old died following a two-year battle with colon cancer.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Raven-Symoné, who shared the heartbreaking news of her younger brother, Blaize Pearman's passing. He was 31. 

Amidst expressing gratitude for the birthday wishes on her 38th birthday, the former child star took to Instagram on Monday (Dec 11), where she announced his death last month, following a two-year struggle with colon cancer. 

The former “The View” co-host admitted it's difficult fully embracing the celebration while grappling with the absence of her brother. However, she hinted at sharing more on December 16th.

"It was a little bittersweet for me, to be honest, because last month I lost my brother, Blaize," the actress shared.

"He was battling colon cancer for about two years and he is in a better place now. He's loved and missed, and the emotions that have been weaving in and out of my body and mind and my family have been a roller coaster."

Raven-Symoné wrapped up her video, “I love you, Blaize," adding his birthday will continue to be celebrated by their family. “His birthday is Dec. 16 and forever will be. I love you, guys. My family on Instagram, my family at home and my family and friends. You guys have been such an amazing support system and I love you all."

The American Cancer Society reports that colorectal cancer, the illness that led to the deaths of Chadwick Boseman and Brazilian soccer legend Pelé, disproportionately affects the Black community, showing the highest rates compared to any other racial or ethnic group in the US.

According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer, the disease that claimed the lives of Chadwick Boseman and Brazilian soccer legend and three-time World Cup champion Pelé, significantly impacts the Black community, with members 20% more likely to get colorectal cancer and about 40% more likely to die from it than most other groups.

Blaize wasn’t in the entertainment industry himself but was often spotted beside his older sister at events and red carpets over the years.
