Consequence Cuts Ties With Kanye West
Consequence is moving on. The rapper announced that he was parting ways, professionally—that is, with Kanye West and Q-Tip, two of his high-profile relationships. Consequence, who was signed to Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music, appeared on MTV's RapFix Live where he told Sway that he was no longer affiliated with Kanye or his "cousin" Q-Tip.
Consequence explained that both Kanye and Q-Tip were supposed to contribute production to his sophomore album, ConsTV, which kept getting delayed. According to Consequence, both Kanye and Tip pulled out.
When Sway asked the Queens, N.Y., rapper why he decided to address the matter during the interview, Cons said he did it for "clarification that I am no longer professionally aligned with said parties." Sway asked what many were thinking: whether Consequence felt as though Kanye had put him on the backburner, turning his focus to other G.O.O.D. Music acts such as Big Sean and Pusha T.
"Absolutely," Consequence responded. "When you look at it, I wasn't made a priority over themselves. And I understand that. You want me to accept it, and I can. But I can't continue this, it isn't a healthy work relationship."
Consequence said he was in a great space creatively, as he continues to focus on his upcoming mixtape, Music On Demand 3, which he says will go deeper into these issues.
