BET Awards Trend Alert: Braids

Gabrielle Union, 2 Chainz and many more rocked the classic style on the red carpet.

Celebrities really turned it out for the BET Awards on Sunday, with 'fits and 'dos on fleek for the big show. There were a number of trends we noticed on the red carpet — bright, bold colors, splashes of purple in honor of Prince, Eastern and North African-inspired menswear — but one of the most prominent was braids.
Looks like the stars really embraced the classic style this year, rocking them in a variety of textures, levels of thickness and lengths. Here are a few celebs who made the most of this summer-friendly style:

Gorgeous Gabrielle Union paired her beautiful silk one-shoulder gown with waist-length braids that she swept to one side. We give this look two thumbs up.

Beyoncé's protégés Chloe and Halle Bailey of Chloe x Halle made their red carpet debut and crushed it. Like their outfits, their hair was coordinated but still reflected their individual styles. The girls rocked their locs/braids hybrids in two very different ways.

2 Chainz structured his signature braid locs into a dope crown.

Danielle Mone Truitt, star of the upcoming cop series Rebel, gathers her braids into a gorgeous updo. Love this pic of the actress sharing a laugh with Orlando Jones!

Tasha Smith is not playing with this 'do! The For Better or Worse actress lets her braids flow all the way down to her waist.

Werk! Eva Marcille made a dramatic entrance with her floral micro-mini and long, swept-to-the-side textured braids.

Meagan Good isn't playing with this look! Her flowing mane of braids on one side gets a little edge with the shave on the other.

Celebrity trainer Jeanette Jenkins keeps it simple with double braids that put all the emphasis on her beautiful face.

Bey's dancers rocked braids in a multitude of ways!

Singer-songwriter LaTina Webb goes for middle parted braids that perfectly frame her face.
