Missy Elliott Receives Hollywood Walk of Fame Star
Missy Elliott, a four-time Grammy-winning songwriter, record producer, and artist, has received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
On Monday (Nov. 8), Elliott was overjoyed with emotion at the ceremony and thanked several people who helped make her career in the music industry a success, including her long-time collaborator Grammy winning producer Timbaland.
Ciara and Lizzo joined together to introduce Elliott at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce ceremony. Her star lays right outside the new location of Amoeba Music on Hollywood Boulevard.
Heading to her Instagram page to celebrate, Elliott said not only was she grateful but also humble for the recognition.
“We here baby! And I know a lot of people say (Missy it’s ‘bout Time) but this was the right time (God’s Timing) & I am Grateful! This is a moment that I shall never forget,” she captioned her post in part.
She continued: “I am still filled by seeing I have a star amongst so many other great Stars my heart is Smiling and I thank all my SuperFriends and all the female EMCEES before me thank you for being the foundation for me Queens👑 I am HUMBLED!”
Born Melissa Arnette Elliott, she helped create a fresh and idiosyncratic sound with Timbaland that put their mark on the music map.
She achieved Platinum status from the Recording Industry Association with her 1997 solo debut album Supa Dupa Fly. She is also one of the masterminds behind the late R&B artist Aaliyah and her hits "One In A Million,'' "If Only Your Girl Knew,'' and "Hot Like Fire,'' along with SWV's "Can We,'' 702's "Where My Girls At?'' Destiny's Child's "Confessions,'' and Whitney Houston's "In My Business.''
Some of her personal heavy hitters include “Get Ur Freak On,” “Work It,” “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” “One Minute Man,” and “Gossip Folks.”
