Dunkin' Donuts Slammed Over A Store’s Sign Asking People To Report Employees Not Speaking English
A Dunkin' Donuts location in Baltimore has been called racist after customers noticed a sign asking them snitch on any employees shouting in languages other than English.
On Monday morning, the sign, which was posted by the general manager, was seen by a WBAL-TV 11 News producer. She immediately took a photo and posted it to her Twitter account.
The sign read: "If you hear any of our staff shouting in a language other than English, please call 443-415-7775 immediately with the name of the employee to receive a coupon for free coffee and a pastry."
The sign offered a "free coffee and pastry" for anyone who reported the employees
While some people found nothing wrong with the sign, most were offended the company would bribe customers to ruin an employee's job
Eventually, the official Dunkin' Donuts twitter handle explained why the sign was posted but the company did not apologize
WBAL spoke with a former manager of the store who said he had put up something similar in the past. According to the former employee, customers had complained about non-English speaking employees in the past.
