The rumor goes that Arie and Tucker have been dating on the low  for thirteen years, with some fans even supplying photos that seemed to support the claim. Needless to say, many people were shocked. 

The rumors took off like wildfire on social media to the point that the soul singer’s name became a trending topic on Twitter this weekend. 

It didn’t take long for India Arie to notice what was happening online and she responded to the claims in a series of tweets. 

Even she was shocked to see why her name was trending. “Twitter!! It's been a MINUTE! And I just woke up to find OUT! I’m TRENDING! Im HYPE!” she tweeted with three laughing crying emojis. “Me and Chris Tucker been dating for 13 years?!!! 13 YEARS?!”  Whew chile! Thats some STRONG BLACK (LOVE ) Tea.”

The “Brown Skin” soulstress clarified that the two have never dated, although they did go on a “date or [two]” about 13 years ago.  

“For you who LOVED the IDEA, [Chris Tucker] and I as a couple lol, I feel you.  I have a  REAL LOVE story for you, I really do,” she said in her final tweet on the matter.
