Ruff Ryders’ First Lady Eve Finally Gets In On The Viral DMX Challenge
Black Twitter has been having its fun with DMX’s 1999 Sisqo-assisted single “What They Really Want” since the viral #DMXChallenge took over our timelines. On the four-minute record, there’s a memorable 30-second breakdown during X’s second verse where he drops a roll call of all his sexual conquests.
Everyone from Jada Pinkett-Smith and comedic force Leslie Jones to Halle Berry and Amandla Stenberg got in on the challenge, which calls on Black women to celebrate their hair game by showing off all their different ‘dos, a new one each time a name is mentioned in the verse. It seemed like the Internet was ready to crown the Red Table Talk host the winner … and then there was Eve.
On Monday (Sept. 9), the First Lady of Ruff Ryders came through with her own spin on the viral challenge. The femcee-turned-television-hostess uploaded a specially curated video toasting the return of the tenth season of morning chat show The Talk, on which she is a co-host.
The CBS daytime show premiered this Monday, and Eve marked the occasion with a celebratory nod to her rap roots, red carpet appearances and acting stints.
“SO I had to take my time with this!!! Kicking off #season10 @thetalkcbs let me know what look/s you might want me to do again,” she wrote in the caption of the video. The “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” rap star shared a throwback video of the number of looks she rocked over the seasons as a host.
In addition to the video clips and photos from The Talk, Eve mixed in other moments from her life, including a red carpet appearance at the Grammys, one acting clip, an outtake from her single “Tambourine” and a couple of magazine shoots. Unfortunately for old school hip-hop fans, the video didn’t include any of her iconic looks from the early 2000s.
