Here's Further Proof That Redman's House Hasn't Changed Much Since 'MTV Cribs'
Redman may be considered a vet in the hip-hop world with more than 20 years under his belt, but he clearly hasn’t forgotten where he came from. In fact, despite the various honors and accomplishments, Redman recently revealed that he still lives in his home in Staten Island, the exact same home that was featured on that comedic episode of MTV Cribs back in 2001. And to prove he’s no fraud, the rapper pulled out his vintage “dollar box.”
If you’re too young to remember Redman’s MTV Cribs episode, the star unveiled his secret box of singles and other miscellaneous cash on the show. Now, 16 years later, Red still has it and it’s pretty full. “Motherf**kers want to know, do I still got my dollar box from MTV Cribs? Yeah, I still got my dollar box,” Red exclaimed in a video on Snapchat. He then turned the camera towards a rugged, army green box stuffed with crumpled cash. “Look at that box right here. Look at all those dollars,” he said. “Straight dollar box, falling all out the box. That’s that ‘my check ain’t cleared but I still got money to go get groceries.’”
Fans may be wondering why Redman hasn’t moved out of his two-bedroom, two-bathroom place by now. According to Red, a small home is just the way he likes it. “I wouldn’t know what to do with a big house,” Redman explained during his interview with Hot 97. “I tried to get my moms a big house, let my kids stay in the house and stuff. But me, I don’t know, I’m just like that Oscar Madison kind of rapper, you know what I mean? I like just staying in a comfortable [environment]... just waking up right to the board, right to the bathroom, right to the kitchen and cook, then right back to the board, working.”
Well, if Redman is cool with his home, that’s all that matters. Even so, he may want to put a lock on that dollar box, just in case. Check out the video of Redman showing off his secret stash below.
