Luke James Talks Lessons Learned From Beyoncé

While serving as Beyoncé's opening act Luke James learned some invaluable pointers.

BET Music Matters artist Luke James got the privilege of a lifetime when he was handpicked by Beyoncé to serve as her opening act during her comeback shows at the Revel Resort last week. Reflecting on the blockbuster series of performances, James told MTV News that he learned one thing from the indefatigable pop star above all: Give.

"What I learned from Beyoncé is just the focus, the drive and to stay creative and to always give, just keep giving," he said. "Throughout the years that she's been doing it, since Destiny's Child to now, she's been giving. This is the beginning for me ... I just want to remain giving and always [be] a necessity to people, you know? Giving [fans] what they need. At the same time, it's basically giving me what I need."

James, a New Orleans native with a soulful falsetto, had his national television debut at BET Honors back in February. The Def Jam signee released his debut EP, #LUKE, earlier this year.
