Tina Knowles Pens Sweet Open Letter to Beyoncé and Solange
Just when you thought you had Mother’s Day under control, the Knowles have found yet another way to make you feel inferior.
In a heartfelt open letter to Beyoncé, Solange, Kelly, and cousin Angie, supreme giver of life Celestine “Tina” Knowles-Lawson penned the most beautiful tribute to her girls for Time magazine.
In the letter, Mama Tina celebrated the four women who she says helped her to get through her divorce and back out into the dating game. It was through their encouragement and support that she was able to be confident in herself again.
On Solange, she says, “I knew when you were born three days late that you would walk to the beat of your own drum. You were always my rebel warrior! Always defending the underdog and fighting for what you believe in."
And to Kelly, “I know without a doubt that you were a true gift from God. You came to live with us when you were only 11 years old. You were the sweetest, most kind person I had ever met and you still are. You are also a true survivor.”
Now that we’ve all gathered ourselves, I hope you all know what this means. Whatever you thought you were getting your mom for Mother’s Day, you have to do more.
