BET Awards 2022: Guess Who Has Taken Home The Most BET Awards?

Here’s a who’s who of the biggest wins in the history of the show.

In the 2 decades  since the inception of the BET Awards, trophies have been given to a massive number of artists. While nominations are an honor in their own right, what holds major weight are the stars who win them. And then there are those who not only win once but maintain enough clout and relevance to take home the top prizes over and over again.

These are the icons who changed the game and helped shape and define Black culture as we know it. As we wait to find out who will take home this year’s prizes on Sunday, June 26, let’s have a look at which stars are swimming in the bling and blazing a trail with the most awards won ever.

With a whopping sum of 66 nominations (58 solo and 8 with Destiny’s Child), Beyoncé has taken home 31 BET trophies (as part of Destiny’s Child and as part of The Carters), which makes her the MVP sitting at the very top of the list for BET Awards wins.  When the BET Awards launched in 2001, she took home the prize for “Best Female Group” and racked up noms and wins for everything from “Album of the Year” to “Viewer’s Choice” to her most recent honor in 2020 winning the BET Humanitarian of the Year Award.

  2. Drake (15 wins)

In a span of only a decade, the superstar rapper and unofficial ambassador of Canada has snagged 15 BET Award wins. In 2010, Drake won his first for “Best Male Hip-Hop Artist.” Last year, Mr. Graham won his 15th BET award celebrating being the mastermind behind one of the biggest hits of Summer 2020: “No Guidance.” In between his first and his most recent victories, some of Drake’s other BET awards include “Best Male Hip-Hop Artist” (he won again in 2012), “Best Collaboration” and “Video of The Year.” Based on his ongoing reign over the hip hop and R&B charts, he’ll likely be taking some more trophies home before it’s all said and done.

  3. Lil’ Wayne (11 wins)

Lil’ Wayne is a living legend in his own right. Starting off his dominance back in 2007 with a “Viewer’s Choice Award” win for “Stuntin’ Like My Daddy (ft. Birdman),” Lil’ Wayne has stacked up an impressive 33 nominations and 11 BET Award wins. Lil Tune has taken home BET awards for numerous other categories including “Best Male Hip-Hop Artist” (a title he shares with his protege Drake), “Best Collaboration” in multiple years and “Video of The Year.”

Although haters have tried to claim the self-proclaimed “best rapper alive” title in recent years, he has proven that his pen remains sharp, he’s featured on so many tracks it’s hard to keep up, and his talent alone hasn’t lost a beat even till’ this day. His latest win was for “Best Collaboration”, which won due in part to his mighty feature on Chance The Rapper’s single “No Problem.” Still rocking in 2021, Weezy’s storied career is still being written.

Kanye West received some of the earliest love from the BET Awards when he teamed up with gospel singer Yolanda Adams to perform his massive track “Jesus Walks” at the BET Awards back in 2004. Yes, the BET Awards and Kanye go that far back and since his humble beginnings, West has amassed over 31 nominations and 10 BET Awards wins. In what seems like it might have been a no-brainer at the time, West won his first two awards for “Best New Artist” (2004) and “Best Male Hip-Hop Artist” (2005). Some of his other award highlights include “Video of the Year” and “Best Group.”
