Luther Campbell, a.k.a. Uncle Luke, seems to have a knack for stirring up controversy. The legendary 2 Live Crew front man is used to being the target of criticism and now he's throwing himself into the running debate over  the controversial film Django Unchained. Uncle Luke is taking a stab at Hollywood director Spike Lee and his fiery comments aimed at director Quentin Tarantino's film. In his blog, Luke’s Gospel, on Miami NewTimes Luke calls Lee to task for publicly dissing the Golden Globe award-winning film.

The Do the Right Thing director had launched a personal boycott against the film, and then tweeted, “'American slavery was not a Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western,'" and "'It Was A Holocaust. My Ancestors Are Slaves. Stolen From Africa. I Will Honor Them.'"

In his post today Campbell writes, “Screw Spike Lee. Quentin Tarantino's Django is a brilliant flick that more accurately depicts the African-American experience than any of the 15 movies about Black culture Lee's directed in his lifetime.”

The rapper continues to check the director, blogging, “Lee needs to get over himself. He's upset because Tarantino makes better movies. The man who put Malcolm X on the big screen is Hollywood's resident house negro; a bougie activist who wants to tell his fellow white auteurs how they can and can't depict African-Americans.”

Campbell then proceeds to break down specific scenes in Django Unchained and even gives us a mini history lesson, making connections to racism today. When it comes to Lee, he definitely holds no punches. Uncle Luke ends his post referring the director as an “Uncle Tom.”

Django Unchained is up for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
