After traveling the world recording their hotly anticipated collaboration album Watch the Throne, Jay-Z and Kanye West are in an Empire state of mind.
The New York Post's Page Six caught the twin titans recording at a custom studio in Manhattan's luxe Tribeca Grand Hotel until 7 a.m. on Tuesday. Previously, the two had been recording tracks for the album in Paris and the English countryside.
Jay-Z recently blamed Watch the Throne's protracted delays on an inability to find studio time that fits both his and 'Ye's schedules. But now it looks like the two are kicking things into high gear.
"They were laying down tons of tracks. It was intense," a witness said of the late night recording sessions. "No Beyoncé and no booze."
Watch the Throne has reportedly amassed a long list of collaborators, including Q-Tip, Bangladesh, Pete Rock, Lex Luger, Madlib and Mike Dean on production, with Beyonce, La Roux and Bruno Mars expected to contribute guest vocals. The album still does not have a release date.
