Attend the Get Connected Uptown Youth Conference in New York City
The New York City Mission Society is expected to attract more than 300 children and young adults to its annual Uptown Youth Conference in Harlem, New York City, on Friday and Saturday, April 26 and April 27.
The leadership and youth conference will kick off with a rally against gun violence on Friday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. at the Minisink Townhouse and will end at Harlem Hospital. A screening of the documentary film Triggering Wounds, a film about a Harlem youth facing the impact of gun violence in his community, will follow at the hospital.
Over the weekend, attendees ages 13-24 will connect and be provided with resources about health, education and financial literacy. The conference will also serve as "a positive outlet for change" in the face of gun violence in the community.
Saturday activities will begin at 9 a.m. and the schedule includes a Youth Speak Out with mayoral and Manhattan borough president candidates, a talent show and enrollment for New York City's summer youth employment program.
Minisink Townhouse is located at 646 Malcolm X Blvd. The Harlem Hospital is located at 506 Lenox Avenue.
