Suspected Souljah Slim Killer Found Shot
The man police believe shot and killed legendary New Orleans rapper Soulja Slim has been killed.
According to AllHipHop, Garrelle Smith, 29, was found by New Orleans police early Saturday morning, August 17, with gunshot wounds to the head and chest.
Slim, who rose to fame with No Limit Records and later co-wrote Juvenile's No. 1 hit "Slow Motion," was gunned down on Thanksgiving Eve, November 26, 2003, in front of his mother's home. Investigators believe Smith and another man named Stephen Kennedy were paid $10,000 for the murder, which they say stemmed from a dispute with a rival record label.
Smith was tied to at least four other murders as well. Police say he escaped prosecution because his fearsome rep as a hitman deterred any would-be witnesses. Stay tuned as this story develops.
