On Monday (Mar. 2), the G-Unit leader declared his intentions to executive-produce and finish the late rapper’s final project that he was working on before his untimely death as a tribute. 

“I’m on the move listening to Pop Smoke. I decided I’m gonna executive produce and finish his album for him,” Fif announced to his 25 million Instagram followers on Monday (Mar. 1). Jeremih and Fivio Foreign among numerous others expressed their support in his comments. The head of Pop Smoke’s label, Steven Victor, co-signed his sentiments as well. It appears the hip-hop mogul will be taking over the reigns to see the project through to completion as well. When Hip-Hop N More posed that the posthumous release “would be a gift to the world,” Victor confirmed that the project is “happening.” 

With the public’s support behind him, Fifty wasted no time getting the ball rolling on completing Pop’s album. He immediately sent out requests via Instagram to recruit some of hip-hop’s heaviest hitters to help him finish what Pop Smoke started, and he already had a few names in mind.

First, he announced he wanted to feature rising Compton rapper Roddy Ricch on the record, who responded that he was down for the cause. Next, Fif called on Drake to lend his contribution to the album. “I got [Roddy Ricch] on deck. This s**t gonna be stupid. @champagnepapi where you at n***a? Don’t start acting light-skinned on us,” he issued in a separate post. The OVO honcho has yet to publicly respond. Later that same day, Fif hit up Chris Brown on the social platform to drop some vocals on the record. Chris also has not responded.

Fans are commending Fifty for his valiant efforts across social media.

“I think it’s very dope that 50 cent gonna finish Pop Smoke album,” one person commented on Twitter. 

“That's why I'm saying 50 cent is a legend. He has taken the responsibility to executive-produce Pop Smoke’s Album,” a second praised of the New York rap icon. “Bless you champ.”

“50 a legend for getting involved with Pop Smoke’s album. NYC, represent,” a third added.

50 Cent’s declaration comes after a TMZ report revealed that Pop Smoke will be laid to rest in his hometown later this weekend. Tributes have continued to pour in for the late Brooklyn MC from across the globe in remembrance of his memory. A fast-rising rap neophyte from Brooklyn’s  nascent drill scene, critics and hip-hop heads alike agreed that the 20-year-old was on the cusp of achieving great things. Just days before he was murdered in a home invasion, Pop Smoke released his second mixtape, Meet the Woo 2, which debuted at No. 7 on Billboard. 

His death has come as a stark example of yet another rap talent taken from the world too soon.
