Vybz Kartel to Start Skin Bleaching Line For Men
Fans of Vybz Kartel may have been shocked and awed by the chocolate-brown complexioned Jamaican dance-hall artist's transformation into that of a light-skinned man, but now he’s turning his new lighter, brighter look into big business.
Kartel, currently awaiting trial on a charge of conspiracy to murder, is now also introducing a new line of cosmetics for men including several of skin lightening products.
The 35-year-old reggae artist first admitted using cakesoap to lighten his skin, but now admits that he used his own special formula that will soon be available to customers under the Vybz label.
Despite incorrectly comparing a permanent action to a temporary one, Kartel likens his skin lightening to straightening one’s hair or getting a tan. In a statement to vibe.com he said, “When Black women stop straightening their hair and wearing wigs and weaves, when white women stop getting lip and butt injections and implants, when bald men stop getting hair transplants, and when people stop getting nose jobs and cosmetic surgery then I’ll stop using the cakesoap and we’ll all live naturally ever after. Until then f**k you all.”
