Chaka Khan Canceled Her July Performances for an Important Reason
Chaka Khan recently canceled a slew of upcoming performances throughout the month of July, one being at the California State Fair, and the reason has finally been confirmed. According to The Modesto Bee, the music icon has checked herself into rehab for an addiction to prescription medication.
The "I'm Every Woman" songstress' rep confirmed the news in a statement: "[Khan has] voluntarily entered the program to get healthy and stay that way."
According to the original report, she has also already enrolled in rehab and an aftercare program. Her reps have not confirmed or denied what caused her addiction, but it is known that she has battled with drug and alcohol addiction in the past, and has even been to rehab on several previous occasions.
"We are extremely disappointed Chaka Khan canceled because we knew how much the community was looking forward to it, yet at the same time, we wish her the best in her health and full recovery," State Fair spokeswoman Adrienne Alkhas said in a statement.
