Rihanna, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg And More Celebrate LA Lakers’ NBA Championship
The Lakers emerged victorious over Miami in Game 6 of the NBA Finals last night (October 11), defeating the Heat 106-93, making them 2020's NBA champions.
Heartbreakingly, the win comes nearly nine months after Kobe Bryant tragically passed away in a helicopter crash along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianni Maria-Onore Byrant and several other passengers in January. The Lakers have continuously paid tribute to the late NBA legend throughout the play-off games so the win comes as a bittersweet moment for the team and fans alike. It also marks the team’s first title since 2010.
Rihanna posted a video of herself rocking Lakers gear while singing along to Queen's “We Are The Champions.”“If you ain’t on this time right now...bye,” she wrote. “Lebron remains king. The Lakers are the champs, and Kobe is proud. A.D thank you! #Congratulations.”
Snoop Dogg also made sure to send his congratulations to his home team on their big win. The West Coast rap legend made a series of posts on Instagram throughout the night. In the first post, he shared a throwback photo of himself rocking a bedazzled yellow and purple ensemble courtside. “Gang gang, he wrote in the caption. Uncle Snoop followed that up with some behind-the-scenes clips of his basketball festivities.
After the game, he praised LeBron James for a “job well done,” along with a photo of the power forward and the late Bryant.
