50 Cent Shuts Down Rumors He Used Ozempic For Slimmed-Down Figure
Word on the street is that everyone around town has been using prescription drugs to hit their weight loss goals. Everyone that is except for 50 Cent. He says his recent body transformation is all due to hard work in the gym.
In 2022, the "Many Men" rapper hit the Super Bowl Halftime Show with the performance of a lifetime while recreating his iconic music video for "In da Club," from over 20 years ago, where he was captured working out in various scenes. Following that historic performance in Los Angeles, 50 was fat-shamed for his performance and quickly became a meme.
Fast-forward to today, this brotha is on the path to being his best self, not just for physical benefits but for his future as a media mogul.
While critics argue that 50 Cent has used Ozempic to achieve his body goals, he says that is false.
In a post he made to Instagram on Thursday (Jan. 25), the rapper –whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III– opened up on how he achieved results.
“Everybody talking about weight loss. I was in the gym. I was working the f— out, man. Who says Ozempic? I was running,” he said. “I was running, I was doing what I had to do.”
“You seen me on tour. I was running around,” he continued. “I was 253 lbs., I came down and I’m 210 right now. Oww, so how you feel about it?”
Weight loss drugs such as Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Ozempic have gained popularity, with celebs like Tracy Morgan revealing he uses the latter. Still, Ozempic has been called "the worst kept secret in Hollywood," with stars like Chelsea Handler, Amy Schumer, and even Elon Musk admitting to having taken it, according to NPR.
According to UC Davis Health, Ozempic, known generically as semaglutide, was approved in 2017 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in adults with type 2 diabetes. Ozempic is a weekly injection that helps lower blood sugar by helping the pancreas make more insulin.
Although it has weight loss side effects, Ozempic is not approved for weight loss. However, semaglutide is approved for weight loss under the name Wegovy. Ozempic has a smaller dose of semaglutide than Wegovy. Last year, Oprah Winfrey admitted to using a prescription for weight loss, but she did not reveal which one.
While taking the fast track to weight loss by using a prescription is not for him, 50 Cent strives to do more than just lose weight. He is on a multifaceted wellness journey while laying low on getting laid.
"My new idea is so big, I don’t have time to be distracted I’m practicing abstinence, I have been meditating and focusing on my goals," he said in a post on Jan. 9 on Instagram. "I hope this New Year helps you excel to the next level."
Days later, he was back on the 'gram discussing the significance of 2024.
"I think this year is my year, I’m focused I have no distractions but I have the biggest project I ever took on. I’m ready let’s work!"
