Report: R. Kelly's Label Refuses To Release New Music In Light Of Recent Allegations

The #MuteRKelly movement may have a new ally.

Welp, it seems like the cancel culture is affecting R. Kelly in more ways than fans initially presumed. Aside from many more joining the #MuteRKelly movement, it was reported that Illinois officials shut down his request for a concert permit. According to Denise Albert, a spokeswoman for the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Kelly's application for the Spring Break Jam in April was denied this past Thursday due to security concerns amid protests from last week around his Chicago studio, where some of his alleged sex-cult victims are being held.

This past weekend, Chicago police were tipped off about two rumored hostages at Robert’s Trump Tower residence, but interviewed both women — Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary — along with Kelly, and no evidence of any wrongdoing surfaced.

  • Now, RCA/Sony, the Pied Piper’s record label, has halted all of his impending projects until the smoke clears.

TMZ reported that the label won’t back any of his projects — old or new — and won’t release new music or music videos until the criminal investigation and countless allegations against him are rectified. Apparently, Kelly is highly upset because his contract requires two albums, and he has been actively working to fulfill that commitment.

  • RCA/Sony knows the backlash that’ll ensue will be far greater than the reward if Robert releases new music, in light of his current dealings...

Also, if he’s released without just cause, RCA/Sony could be sued. So, basically, they’re stuck between a rock and a hard place. However, if there’s a morality clause in his contract, that he’d obviously be in breach of, this could work out in their favor.

We’ll keep you posted as more details emerge.
