Morocco Unveils Bold Plans for Illegal Immigrants
In spite of international criticism, the king of Morocco, Mohammed VI, has unveiled details to grant citizenship to the country’s 40,000 illegal immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa.
The new migration policy is designed to eradicate the high payments demanded by unscrupulous traffickers.
Situated at the closest northerly point to the West, Morocco is the only African country that shares land borders with Europe.
Given the country’s geography it has become a desirable location for African immigrants seeking asylum in Europe.
Morocco’s bold immigration scheme is intended for those legitimately deemed asylum seekers by the United Nation’s refugee agency.
