Wale Explains Confrontation With Twitter Troll

MMG rapper details altercation with heckler, admits to caring what people say about him.

He's been known to let his anger get the best of him, but Wale doesn't exactly regret running up on a Twitter troll in Washington, D.C., Monday (March 31), the rapper has clarified.

Speaking to MTV News late Tuesday (April 1), Wale explained why he confronted the heckler, stating that "one thing lead to another" and that he didn't actually fight the guy, he just "mushed him a little bit."

The incident started after user @Chefboyrnach, tweeted for Wale to "come collect this fade." Much to his surprise, the DMV rapper obliged, popping up in his section at the WWE's Monday Night Raw.

A short clip on WorldStar HipHop captured just how mild the run-in actually was, which was a show of restraint on Wale's part. "Honestly, if there wasn't kids right there, it would have went a little bit differently, but I just wanted to be conscious of them. It's not to say it was the right decision. But in the moment, you know," he said.

Right or wrong, reacting doesn't make him the bad guy, he continued with all the slander swirling through the Web, there's no harm in a rebuttal. "People get it misconstrued. Like, 'Oh, you're so butt-hurt.' It's not even that. I come from a place where when we was at the lunch table and n---as was jonesing on each other, I'll respond. I'm gonna have something better, too. And now we've come to a place where, if you respond, you're a b----h. Somebody could say 'F--- you' 100 times, if I say 'f--- you' back, then I'm a b----h. And people be like, 'You're famous, you shouldn't care.'

The 29-year-old then admitted that he doesn't just brush off negative comments. "I care what people say because I try to be a man of the people," he confessed. "I just don't understand, [in] society, why we champion people like that in this day and age," he said. "I remember when people used to admire real people that stand behind their words or are stand-up men. I come from that. I had to address him as such. It wasn't nothing really serious."
