Master P Has Just One Issue With Kevin Hart's Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge...
Comedy mogul Kevin Hart and his Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge, aimed to help Houstonians as they weather the catastrophic tropical storm, has rounded up major consideration and cash from Hollywood’s elite.
But while hip-hop’s jack-of-all-trades Master P understands that Kev’s efforts are coming from the heart, he believes the price tag needs to be removed from it all.
Kev announced the challenge on Monday after catching everyone up to speed with the overwhelming disaster and tragedy that Hurricane Harvey has cost thousands of Houston civilians. A few celebrities had already come forth to openly voice support and share prayers for the nation’s fourth largest city. But, for those who Kev requested to take on his philanthropic challenge, he had a different idea of support in mind — $25,000 worth of different ideas.
"I'm blessed Kevin Hart made a donation, but I feel like he don’t have to do that because it’s not necessary,” P said of Kev’s urging for other celebrities to send $25,000 to The Red Cross. “A lot of people are gonna do what they want to do — it’s their money.”
P continued explaining that as long as the donations are coming from the heart, it shouldn’t matter how much they amount to. Addressing all viewers this time, he echoed the sentiments of Houston rap star Baby Bash, who encouraged people to consider alternative ways to aid Houston residents amid the storm as well.
“Whatever you can do — small or little — to help,” he said. “People need food and water. Transportation is messed up in Houston.”
As a New Orleans native, P knows as much as you’d expect him too about the urgencies of the community after a natural disaster. He mentioned that Hurricane Harvey struck during the 12-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the deadly tropical cyclone that crushed NOLA in 2005. With that said, there’s a lot of suffering, heartbreak, loss and desperation that Houstonians have been forced into as a result of Hurricane Harvey. Any and everything helps.
