Dwight Howard was under investigation for child abuse, but authorities are saying that the Houston Rockets center didn’t break the law and the case has been closed.

According to TMZ Sports, Howard’s baby’s mother, Royce Reed, went to Children’s Services in Orlando back in August to complain that the NBA star whipped their 6-year-old son with a belt. Howard allegedly admitted to the whipping, but filed legal documents showing that the disciplining didn’t leave any marks, the way Reed said it did. Reed allegedly took their son to a local medical facility to document the injuries.

However, authorities sided with Howard in the end, allegedly closing the case, despite Reed’s Instagram message Sunday saying otherwise.

"The case is not closed and he is/was not cleared! The investigation is still open as he refuses to speak to the police,” Reed wrote. “So whoever these reps are that are and trying to slander me, just know the gloves are off and I'm not the one to play with when it comes to my son. That is all."

However, less than two hours after Reed's post, TMZ Sports received confirmation from the Florida Department of Children and Families that “the investigation is being closed with no substantiated findings of physical injuries."
