Broadway's Porgy and Bess Revival Sets Closing Date

The Tony Award-nominated musical grossed nearly $20 million during its run.

The highly successful revival of The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess is coming to an end on Broadway.

After 322 performances, the musical will end its run on September 23 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, making it the longest-running production of the Gershwin show to ever play on Broadway.

The revival has been a huge win both critically and financially. Audra McDonald won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal in the title role of Bess. Since previews began, the musical has grossed 19.3 million and, with the cost of 8 million to produce on Broadway, Porgy and Bess ultimately proved to be a huge hit for the Great White Way.

BET.com spoke with McDonald in this exclusive video below.
