The biggest member of The Roc was in the building to celebrate J. Cole's 29th birthday in New York City Tuesday (Jan. 28) night. Jay Z hit the stage during Cole's What Dreams May Come tour stop at Madison Square Garden Theater, as did Kendrick Lamar. 

After Cole performed cuts from Born Sinner and the rest of his catalog, Lamar emerged as the night's first special guest. The TDE rapper performed runs of "m.A.A.d. city" and "Backseat Freestyle" and capped off the mini-set with kind words for Young Simba calling him "one of the first to welcome me to this game with welcome arms."

Hov crashed the party towards the end, but not without making a grand gesture in honor of his first Roc Nation signee. 

The label boss man touched down to perform "Public Service Announcement" and later placed his original Roc-A-Fella chain around Cole's neck. "First of all, happy birthday to J. Cole," said Hov. "It's his birthday but he's giving out gifts. So I think it's only right that you get a gift. That, on your neck, is my original Roc chain — and it's yours."

The crowd went wild, Cole proudly rocked the iconic neck jewelry and Hov jumped right back into the music. 

Afterwards, Cole summed up the night with the one-word tweet, "Unreal."
