Using the Cannes Film Festival to generate some attention, model Naomi Campbell's charity Fashion for Relief has organized a show to aid the Japanese Red Cross. The money raised will be used for the organization's earthquake and tsunami relief fund.
The fashion show's theme is red carpet, which is why they "thought it was appropriate" to hold it in Cannes, Campbell tells Associated Press Television News. The show is scheduled for Monday at a historic market near the festival's headquarters, which will go on through May 22.
“You have to remind people that they still need help, so it had to be now,” she says.
The charity held its first show in 2005 and since then has raised $7.2 million.
