Lawsuits, break-ups, a flopped album…what hasn't Brandy endured in the past few years? The R&B singer is working hard to put it all behind her, but not before she bares her soul on her upcoming album.
"I've gone through some things I haven't yet sang about, from the struggles since the accident, the break-up from my ex-fiancé and then [my last album], Human, not performing well at all and then to be cheated out of Dancing With the Stars...it's like failure after failure after failure,” says Brandy in a revealing documentary about her life and career.
The one-time hitmaker is determined to turn her fate around with her new record. “This is my last opportunity...I'm bringing everything I have to this project. I honestly feel like and I’m not trying to get emotional; I really feel like this is my last chance.”
Her strategy? Go back to what worked for her in the first place. “With this album, I just wanna go back to my roots, my core of who I am,” she says. “I’m R&B and I just wanna give my fans what they deserve.”
It's true that Brandy has had a hard few years, but at least she has a long list of comeback queens to look up to: if Mariah, Britney and Mary J. can do it, why can't she?
