Houston Rapper and Producer BeatKing Dead at 39
Rapper and producer BeatKing, a cornerstone of Houston's club scene, has tragically passed away at the age of 39.
While the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, the news was confirmed by his longtime manager, Tasha Felder, in a heartfelt Instagram post on Thursday (Aug. 15).
“Today, August 15, 2024, we have lost @Clubgodzilla. BeatKing has been the best part of the club for over a decade. He has produced and worked with so many artists, that his sound will forever live. He loved his daughters @clubgodparenting, his music, and his fans. We will love him forever,” she wrote.
Born and raised in Houston, BeatKing, whose real name was Justin Riley, became a staple in the city's vibrant music scene. His career took off in the early 2010s, where his energetic beats and catchy hooks became the soundtrack for college parties and nightclubs across Texas. He solidified his place in the music industry with the viral success of his 2020 hit "Then Leave," which became a TikTok sensation and introduced his music to a global audience.
Beyond his musical achievements, BeatKing was a beloved figure in his community, known for his down-to-earth personality and dedication to his craft. He leaves behind two daughters.
