Lil Durk's Cousin OTF Nunu Shot Dead in Chicago

Aspiring rapper, legal name McArthur Swindle, 21, was gunned down in a parking lot.

McArthur Swindle, the cousin of Lil Durk, was gunned down in Chicago, Saturday (May 31). Swindle, 21, was an aspiring rapper who went by the stage names OTF Nunu and Nuski. Police believe his death was gang related, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

He was in a parking lot seated on the passenger side of a white SUV when someone walked up and opened fire at around 3:20 p.m. Swindle was hit multiple times but attempted to drive away. He subsequently crashed the vehicle into a storefront and was pronounced dead on the scene. His body remained inside the vehicle hours after the shooting.

Swindle, who leaves behind a young daughter, was one of four fatally shot in Chicago over the weekend. The up-and-coming rapper doubled as a college student and wasn't involved in gangs, his aunt told the Sun-Times. "He was a good person, he was a kindhearted person. He had a lot of soul," she said.

According to manager Merk Murphy, Swindle was working on a "breakout" music project. "He was one of those kids who saw an opportunity to put himself in a better position with his music," explained Murphy.

Durk, who was named among XXL's 2014 Freshman list, was reportedly helping to get his cousin more publicity. On the day of Swindle's death, Durk tweeted a link to a song the two made together, "OC."

Sadly, Swindle's fate follows that of his own father, who was gunned down in 1995.
