When Frank Ocean finally dropped his sophomore album Blonde a couple of months ago, critics and fans alike heaped praise upon him and a Grammy nomination seemed like a lock.
Sadly, though, it seems like the R&B star might have to sit the awards show out — all due to a technicality. According to Billboard, Frank has been disqualified from the 2017 Grammy Awards for...missing the filing deadline for his paperwork.

A rep for the Grammys told Billboard that Ocean's albums had not been submitted for consideration, but whether or not that was intentional is still unclear.

Many fans are theorizing that this disqualification is in fact a form of protest from the eclectic artist.

If these fans are right, it certainly has nothing to do with Ocean's past experience at the Grammys, when he was nominated for 5 awards and won two (Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration) for his debut album, Channel Orange.
Sadly, this likely means the chance of a performance by the prodigy at the awards show is also pretty slim.
