Porsha Williams Calls the ICE Detaining of Her Estranged Husband ‘Disheartening’
Porsha Williams is distancing herself from news involving the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detaining her estranged husband, Simon Guobadia.
The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star shared a since-deleted Instagram post following Guobadia’s recent detaining. As of Friday, February 21, the Nigerian-born entrepreneur has reportedly been held at Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia.
“It's disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that have led to this outcome. At this moment my priority is moving forward with my family. 🙏🏾,” Williams wrote in the post.
According to Atlanta’s WSB-TV 2, Guobadia, 60, has spent the last four decades seeking American citizenship, his latest request being denied in January. Guobadia was deported in 1985 after overstaying his visa when he first arrived in the United States in 1982. The following year, he returned to the States but again overstayed his work visa. Guobadia was arrested in 1987 and pleaded guilty to bank and credit card fraud before being arrested twice more and being deported in 1992. One month later, he returned to the U.S.
Last February, Guobadia went to Instagram to celebrate his time in the United States. Shortly after, Williams filed for divorce after 15 months of marriage. The couple wed in November 2022.
