Run That Back: This Week in Music Featuring Frank Ocean, Fetty Wap and More
A lot went down in music this week.
Frank Ocean finally delivered something to us. Releasing his visual album Endless, the former Odd Future singer broke his four-year period of silence to give his fans something special. Peep out his website to see what went down.
Fetty Wap released a new single. "Different Now" gives Fetty fans a little relief before he drops his next project. Listen to it here.
De La Soul, DeJ Loaf and Desiigner, among others, all released new music. Check out some of our staff picks below.
Dej Loaf – 'Miami'
As we are ready to bid adieu to the summer, Dej Loaf comes through with "Miami," a cut that has me on Jet Blue pricing flights the hell out of here. There's nothing more to say but fall and it's pumpkin spice movement needs to give us a few more moments of summer. Dej Loaf and I say so. — Kathy Iandoli
Mac Miller Featuring CeeLo Green – 'We'
With less than a month before The Divine Feminine is released, Mac Miller drops another smooth cut, this time featuring CeeLo Green. In "We," CeeLo hums and coos while Mac raps about the difficulties of love. The Divine Feminine is out September 16. — Janice Llamoca
Rae Sremmurd – 'Take It or Leave It'
These kids have hip-hop purists so pressed and it’s easy to see why. This album cut from Sremmlife 2 is slow and deliberate. In it, you’re able to see the potential outside of the confines of rap, which Khalif has already been flexing – he co-wrote Beyoncé’s “Formation.” Content wise, they’re clearly talking to a girl, but considering their propensity to piss off hip-hop heads because of their music style and “gay” magazine covers, it’s obvious that irreverence is their strong suit. — Jon Reyes
De La Soul Featuring Usher – 'Greyhounds'
De La Soul and Usher are perfect together. "Greyhounds" proves it. A song describing the trials and tribulations those chasing their Hollywood dreams face in both arriving to and making their departure from the big city, De La's latest single is an introspective masterpiece. Before you make your journey, listen to this joint. — Paul Meara
K Camp – 'LV'
K Camp is bringing his not-so-humble manifestations into the club with his new banger “LV.” The single, off of his forthcoming sophomore effort due out September 2, is holding onto summer’s luxury as he details shopping at Louis Vuitton with a bottomless bank account (“I can see that money with my eyes closed, blindfold / You can say whatever motherf**ker, yeah I grind for it”). The track features the Atlanta staple’s signature sound, perfect for driving to the bank with the windows down before pre-gaming for one last night out before these carefree months are behind us again. — KC Orcutt
