2022 NAACP Image Awards: 5 Things You May Not Know About Kyla Pratt
Actress and singer Kyla Pratt started her career in the entertainment industry with her television debut in the 1993 series Where I Live. From there, the star accumulated more opportunities, guest-starring in hit shows, including Living Single, Family Matters, and Walker, Texas Ranger, before landing a lead role in the 2000s comedy series One on One. The 35-year-old also starred in over a dozen movies, including the most notable Dr. Dolittle franchise.
This year at the 53rd NAACP Image Awards, Pratt will be one of several presenters who will help honor some of the most talented stars in Black Hollywood for their outstanding performances in film, television, theatre, music, and literature. Before Saturday, February 26, celebrations, here are five things we love about this year’s presenter.
She’s a true veteran in Hollywood
Before taking on the iconic role of Breanna on the hit sitcom One on One and voicing Penny Proud on Disney’s Proud Family, Pratt was taking on roles at the early age of eight taking starring in commercials with major brands, including Nike. She also appeared in an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger entitled "The Neighborhood,” she portrayed Kyla Jarvis, a ten-year-old girl who miraculously recovers after accidentally being shot in a drive-by shooting in her gang-ridden neighborhood.
She’s a proud mommy to two beautiful daughters.
The actress is mommy to two girls, Lyric Kai, whom she and husband Danny Kilpatrick welcomed in 2010, and Liyah in 2013. She kept both pregnancies a secret telling Z107.9 radio station that she deliberately kept her pregnancy from the public because she felt it was something personal she wanted to experience without interference and the unsolicited
She’s an entrepreneur
Apart from acting, Pratt also owns her own production company. In a 2014 interview with Ebony, the star opened up about shifting her focus more towards balancing acting, motherhood, and building her business.

Pratt also participated in several charitable events, including Challenger’s Boys & Girls Club fundraisers, and donated to other organizations. However, much like her personal life, Pratt has kept the details of philanthropic work private.
She ranks among some of the greatest child actors of all time
Pratt ranked #97 on VH1’s list of greatest child stars of all time. The actress has been acting since the early 90s with her debut television appearance in Where I Live and has over a dozen credits across genres in her portfolio.
