Drake's 'I'm Upset' Video Has Fans Digging Up His Teenage Photos, And We Are Crying Real Tears
OVO Sound’s hip-hop elitist Drake finally made his official post-Pusha T-beef return to the rap public with the new visual for his second Scorpion single, “I’m Upset” on Wednesday night (June 13).
The easy-tempo record hands Drizzy the opportunity to flex his signature insouciance about money, status, and possibly loose allusions (according to much speculation) about the mother of his alleged son and French porn star, Sophie Brussaux. It’s no wonder then that fans were thrown for a loop when he dropped the music video of the track where the Toronto-native rounded up the old gang from his early pre-rap stardom Degrassi days in a tear-jerking nostalgic high school reunion. Drizzy arrives as the suave, glowed-up, ambulatory version of his character Jimmy on the teen melodrama TV series of the early 2000s.
His onscreen best buddy from the show, Spinner (who is played by Shane Kippel), is also in tow as they glide handsomely into the reunion to meet the rest of the now-full-grown, drunken wild, party animal crew. Degrassi fans even get to see what became of Rick Murray, the notorious school shooter who put a bullet in Drake’s character’s back during the series, crippling him into paralyzation and a wheelchair for the rest of the reason (hence the “Wheelchair Jimmy” moniker).
When it comes to nailing nostalgia, the “Nice For What” rap star truly outdid himself. So did the internet, who helped themselves to only the most hilarious and memorable moments of Drake’s Degrassi notoriety, courtesy of a trending topic, knee-slapper memes, flicks and even a few videos.
See what they gathered in their fondest memories of Wheelchair Jimmy from the "I'm Upset" video and the Degrassi gang below.
