Clive Davis’ Annual Pre-Grammy Party Has Been Canceled
The 64th annual Grammys is undergoing more changes. After an indefinite postponement and later decision to move the event to Las Vegas, it is now being reported that Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy party will be canceled thanks to COVID-19.
The unfortunate turn of events is “due to the logistical obstacles caused by the ongoing pandemic, including the unavailability of an appropriate venue,” Davis announced in a joint statement with Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason, Jr. obtained by Page Six. The move is not permanent, however, as the legendary A&R executive adds that the grand event will continue next year “when we will host an incredible evening in our unique and glittering way, hospitable to our wonderful music artists, music executives, film television, sports and illustrious politicians, who annually love the event like no other.”
Typically held in the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the legendary party has previously included Hollywood’s brightest stars, including Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Paul McCartney and Barbara Streisand, as well as political figures such as Nancy Pelosi.
“They decided it was better to postpone the party than host an evening that didn’t live up to the magnificent tradition,” an insider added to Page Six.
The 2022 Grammy nominee list is led by Jon Batiste with 11 nods, followed by Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and H.E.R. with eight nominations apiece. Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo followed with seven nominations each.
