Aaliyah's 'Greatest Hits' Has Already Been Removed From Apple Music
Sadly, sometimes, if it's too good to be true, that means it is too good to be true.
Last night (Jan. 11), Aaliyah's Ultimate, a greatest hits compilation album featuring her biggest singles, appeared on both iTunes and Apple Music for the first time. Considering the ongoing legal battle regarding the rights to her music, her album appearing definitely came as a shock.
Unfortunately, less than 24 hours later, her music has once again been wiped from the digital retailer and streaming service.
As reported, the collection of songs has already been removed from both platforms and it likely will be a long, long time until we see her music officially become available digitally in the future.
Her uncle, Barry Hankerson, who also managed her career from the jump, is firm in his stance to keep Aaliyah's music off of digital retailers, a similar request that Prince previously made.
This was the second time Aaliyah's music has appeared online and it appears that the same company who was behind the first apparent leak is involved yet again. This likely will result in two things: unhappy tweets from Aaliyah's loyal fanbase and another round of litigation.
It was sweet while it lasted...
