Country Singer Jimmie Allen Apologizes to Estranged Wife Alexis for Affair
Country music star Jimmie Allen has publicly apologized to his wife Alexis for an affair that ended their marriage.
"I want to publicly apologize to my wife Alexis for humiliating her with my affair," he wrote on Instagram May 18. "I'm embarrassed that my choices have brought shame on her. That's something that she did not deserve at all."
The 37-year-old singer also apologized to his children for "being a poor example of a man and a father." He has daughters Naomi, 3, and Zara, 19 months with Alexis and a son from a previous relationship. The couple is expecting a third child together.
"I'm working on becoming a better person that my kids can be proud of," continued Jimmie, who is also dad to 8-year-old son Aaydn from a previous relationship. "My goal is to be better than the generation before me."
He added, "This business takes so much from you. It's full of temptations that can cripple you and ruin everything you've built. I'm ashamed that I wasn't strong enough to withstand them. I will no longer be a victim of my weaknesses."
Allen concluded the apology writing, "I challenge to seek help when they need it. Do not be afraid of your weakness, surround yourself with people who will help you."
Amid the divorce, Allen is also facing allegations from a former manager who alleges that he sexually assaulted her over 18 months.
In a statement to E! News on May 11, the musician denied the allegations, though acknowledged that he and the woman—who is identified as only Jane Doe in the complaint—did have a "consensual" sexual relationship lasting nearly two years.
"During that time, she never once accused me of any wrongdoing, and she spoke of our relationship and friendship as being something she wanted to continue indefinitely," he said in part. "The simple fact is, her accusations are not only false, but also extremely damaging. I've worked incredibly hard to build my career, and I intend to mount a vigorous defense to her claims and take all other legal action necessary to protect my reputation."
