Benzino's nephew Gai Scott, arrested on Saturday for shooting the Source magazine co-founder during a funeral procession for his mother, has pled not guilty to charges of armed assault with attempted murder, the Boston Globe reports.
“When the dust settles, this case will be shown to be self-defense,’’ Scott's attorney Jon Ciraulo said. The 36-year-old was ordered held without bail pending a hearing.
The incident took place on Saturday morning, when Scott allegedly shot his uncle during the funeral procession for the Love & Hip Hop star's mother. Benzino was rushed to the hospital, where he was treated for gunshot wounds to his biceps. The former rapper's friend Stevie J posted pictures of a recuperating Benzino on Instagram later that day. 
Benzino, who was released from the hospital on Monday, called into 106 & Park where he acknowledged his family issues. Check the video below.
