Kanye West’s Malibu Beach House Is On The Market For $53 Million
If you're ready to splurge this holiday season, you might want to consider Kanye West's Malibu mansion because the brotha has it on the market.
According to PEOPLE, the "Touch The Sky" hitmaker is selling the property for $53 million. When he bought the home, he paid $4 million more.
West tapped "Selling Sunset" star and celebrity real estate agent Jason Oppenheim to list the extravagant property. The agent also serves as the president of The Oppenheim Group. He told the outlet that the rapper removed the home's interiors, and the asking price has been reduced to reflect that.
The abode was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando. Oppenheim said he is proud to have a listing developed by a prominent architect. Ando's skills are so exclusive that he's designed less than 20 homes across the U.S.
“I wanted to have a listing with such architectural pedigree,” he said. He also noted that the Malibu Road location is “one of the most desirable areas in the world.”
Still, this property is not for the average Joe Schmoe. Oppenheim described the West Mansion as “a unique home for a unique and discerning buyer,” adding it's “really in its structure.”
After all, this is Yeezy’s home.
“This architect is known for his concrete work, which is what remains,” he explained. “So it’s really going to be up to the new buyer to imagine the interiors that he or she wants. It was a very minimalist interior previously and will likely continue to be that in order to allow the architecture to speak louder than the finishes.”
The house sits on 4,000 square feet of interior space and approximately 1,500 square feet of an outdoor living area. It is also constructed of nearly 1,200 tons of concrete, 200 tons of steel reinforcement and 12 "massive" pylons etched over 60 feet into the sand.
The listing also says the residence is “an exceedingly rare architectural achievement that should be seen as a masterful work of art, rather than just a residence.”
