‘Spiritual Journey’: Cardi B Optimistic About Community Service
Cardi B isn’t looking at her community service hours from a negative lens. Instead, the “Up” rapper sees it from a positive perspective.
On Saturday (Feb. 25), Cardi, 30, revealed on Twitter how the mandated hours have changed her life.
“Community service has been the best thing that has happened to me,” she tweeted. “Almost like a spiritual journey because sometimes I leave these centers in tears .Those people that we leave behind they just need somebody to talk and a lil push and YOU might be able to change their life forever.”
The community service hours are a result of a plea deal dating back to a 2018 strip club fight in Queens, New York.
According to The New York Times, the fight occurred in August 2018 after two bartenders at Angel’s Strip Club made claims that Cardi issued an attack on them after believing her husband, Offset, had an affair with one of the women.
She pled guilty in September 2022 to two misdemeanor charges of assault in the third degree and reckless endangerment. 10 other charges were dismissed.
The plea deal also gave her a three-year order of protection from the women involved in the August 2018 fight.
According to PEOPLE, Cardi was originally scheduled to complete her community service hours in January, however, she was granted an extension until March 1.
The Queens District Attorney confirmed to the outlet that Cardi had zero hours completed as of January 17.
