Kevin Durant Partners With 'Strong & Kind' Campaign
As the NBA’s leading scorer this season, Kevin Durant has no shortage of strength and athletic prowess. Now the Oklahoma City Thunder forward is using that power to make the world a kinder place.
Durant has partnered with KIND Healthy Snacks for the “Strong & Kind” campaign, which aims to change the common perception of the word strength to include standing up for others in need.
"As a pro athlete, I know it can be easy to focus on trash talk and negativity,” the five-time NBA All-Star says. "Kindness can sometimes be mistaken for weakness, but I want to change that perception. The reality is that it takes a lot of strength to be kind."
Durant is rallying one million people to sign the “Strong & Kind” pledge to support a $1 million donation from KIND to the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation, which will be used to create programming for at-risk youth.
The partnership is the latest good deed from the pro baller. As one of BET.com’s top celebrity givers of 2013, he donated $1 million to the American Red Cross after a severe tornado ripped through an Oklahoma City suburb last May.
